🧵Look at this man. Look at his face.

This is now the face of America.

He ran to the Broadview ICE facility in Chicago yesterday, searching for his wife of five years.

They were following the legal process, showing up for her court case, when ICE took her to another room and disappeared her.

Tonight Iwatched #Palestine36 and nothing prepared me for the emotions I would feel. Anger, despair and overwhemingling sense of sadness 💔 The despair I feel that this was depicting 1936-39. Over 80 years of injustice. Go and see it if you want to understand the situation today #FreePalestine 🇵🇸

So excited that the ASA is in New York next year ✨️

The theme "Disrupting the Status Quo: Putting Sociologists to Work for a More Equitable Society”. It fits perfectly with the new duo-ethnography paper im working on with Katy Proctor and our book challenging methodologies!

Thankyou so much Johanne ❤️ I hope you enjoy reading it ✨️
Well done, you've been very busy 👏.

I have my copy of your book. It came today. I'm impressed; you haven't only published, but it's gone to a reprint. It's an excellent study and the accolades are much deserved.

My latest chapter is the Politics at the time of Jack the Ripper. It examines the parliamentary archives to highlight what was being discussed. The victims were completely left out of the discussions revealing the the disregard for the violence against the women.

Currently reading-A Line in the Sand: Britain, France and the Struggle that shaped the Middle East.

Using newly declassified papers from the British and French arhives, Barr vividly depicts the covert, deadly war of espionage between the British and the French to rule the Middle East.

Important piece on Unending grief of Palestinans 💔

"The grief we experience is compounded by multiple losses and griefs over time. It’s like being repeatedly cut by a shard of glass that shatters on our faces each morning, reminding us of the injustices, losses, and ongoing pain"
I wrote this essay. "For Palestinians, grief is endless, compounded, and interrupted—never given space to breathe, never allowed to end.”
“The trauma experienced by Gazans should warrant a new term, ‘Gaza Annihilation Traumatic Syndrome’ (GATS)…” @untoldmag.org

"It feels as if everything has vanished. Not only the tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza erased without graves, without records, as if they had never existed – so many other things have been hollowed out: basic conceptions of morality, decency, compassion, humanity, hope, future."

The deliberate and relentless killing of Palestinian journalists is sickening beyond words — and is a desperate attempt to silence the truth about Israel’s ongoing crimes against humanity.

Shame on all those who empowered Israel to murder with impunity.

I'm currently 430 miles from #Gaza. Never in my life have I felt so helpless & sickened to think that there are mothers who look just like me starving with their children. My heart is completely broken 💔

Is this really the world we want to live in?!

All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

Watching a whole people starve to death because of Israeli policy and because of the inaction of our government is horrifying, and it is also destroying our souls, not just those of our politicians who could act and don’t, but those of all of us who are forced to watch and do nothing.
