Always amazed at the confidence and arrogance of arseholes.

Intellectual humility is a thing.

Get some.

Pretends to be shocked. The "Swiss Cheese" method works and it's a shame that we politicized a pandemic and pushed safety responsibilities almost entirely on individuals alone.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

This special section in Science on Aust's challenges is sobering.

"Estimates of Greenhouse gas emissions suggest that these fires released around 715 Tg (teragrams) of CO2, and annual equivalent to 80% of Aust's fossil fuel emissions..."

715 teragrams = 715,000,000,000 kg.

Lockdowns and face masks really did help to control covid-19

A perfect (and kinda secret) campsite with a burbling brook right next to our tent.

How was your weekend?

I came to work today *specifically* the receive this package. Been sitting here since 0839 yet FedEx tells me I'm not here.

Anyone else noticed a rapid decline in Fedex's services of late?

We can also no longer ship dry ice from an office, as they closed the one that was authorised to do it.

This is incorrect.

Managed to get two calibration plates on loan rather than buying them for $11,000.

Thanks to my charm (probably) and my rep being very lovely! (I also pleaded poor-NFP-discovery lab).

I like this.
"you can rewrite shit but you can't rewrite nothing", from Mike Duncan, which has helped me get countless first drafts into editors hands.

That's saying something, given his lawyers seem like bumbling, incompetent fools at the best of times.
Trump promised he would have a press conference Monday to talk about a YUGE report supposedly showing election fraud in 2020. But now his lawyers are telling him to cancel it because it will make things worse for him legally. Think he’ll listen to them?

Spotted this rustic-looking shelter whilst kayaking in Grand Teton National Park on Sunday. I don't reckon it's really allowed to be there, but it would be a good spot for some stealth camping, if that's your vibe.

On the way to work this morning: a young moose grazing alongside the highway (behind the guardrail, thank goodness).

Cars driving with hazards and flashing oncoming vehicles. I hope moosey gets away from the road unharmed!

Two days ago, I finished a massive project that required me to combine data from two very large experiments, run months apart, one was run on a new platform (robot) that I had to learn from scratch, and the results we got were beyond our expectations. Now...

Have you ever seen a White-lined sphinx (affectionately known as the hummingbird moth)?

Another creature I'd never seen before moving to North America.

If I'd never moved to North America, I'd never have seen pikas. My life is better for it. SQUEE #pika
