That moment when you realise that you have to cut down 50000 words in your book draft but also add another section because the story would not make sense without it
That moment when you realise your paper is twice as long as it is meant to be, but is structured like spaghetti, making 'cuts' more like surgical operations.

In my view:
Women often write around caring work & pushed out of jobs due to motherhood penalty
More women work in publishing as paid less than male-dominated stem & tech
Women (might) publish more but men get higher advance & recognition (in N/F at least)
I think white male writers are doing ok

Are there some facts on men NOT getting published? On indie presses NOT championing men. I can think of several who champion men AND women. And perhaps lots of women are working in publishing because it's so badly paid? Statistics please, folks. Maybe it's true. But let's see the evidence.

Comes into my office very frustrated & frankly outraged: ‘Why is the lion the king of the jungle? It does not live in the jungle and most important the girls do EVERYTHING! It should be the queen of the savannah, Mummy! ‘

In writing essays students learn to process information, tell a story, formulate an opinion, communicate their ideas- all very imp life skills, not just for academic writing. Writing essays is learning how to think. This is what I teach my students. AI cannot do this for them. This is such bullshit

I think a lot of how women writers are supposed to look and dress a certain way, how hotness is desirable, how attractiveness is expected even when it has nothing to do with their writing. Not an expectation from male writers. I’ve been thinking of this a lot esp as I grow older. And this story wow
Part of a reply-to thread on a @maris.bsky.social piece, but let me tell this story: I had to get up at 5 a.m. to fly very far for 2 events. Someone complained online that I didn't look like my author photo. And the librarian in charge of the event defended that comment publicly.
