In writing essays students learn to process information, tell a story, formulate an opinion, communicate their ideas- all very imp life skills, not just for academic writing. Writing essays is learning how to think. This is what I teach my students. AI cannot do this for them. This is such bullshit

Trying to always fit into this chair and this chair alone, slipping down, trying again, persisting everyday. There is a lesson in there somewhere perhaps maybe

Sometimes I try and forget all the bleakness in the world by eating a mango standing at the kitchen counter with my eyes closed

Lovely to see my name and my book mentioned in the same line as Sontag. Thanks Harpers Bazaar India for including Hysterical as one of the big reads for resistance and renewal (& don’t we need this
right now), esp sweet when this happens without any PR!

Mothering Sunday. Forever juggling. Forever dragging my children with me on work trips, introducing them to the world of Miro and Gaudi. Forever sending emails, reading and making notes from the side of playgrounds.

Meta stealing 30 of my academic papers and books for AI training is so upsetting. We have not given them access to our intellectual property, they have not asked for permission or offered compensation. This is theft.

Everyone should watch Adolescence on netflix. It is so important for all parents & educators. It is a terrifying culture our children are growing up in with social media & people like Tate & we have to be hyper aware & talk to them, understand them with empathy even if it makes us uncomfortable.

It is appalling & ridiculous that Trump has ordered change of name for Gulf of Mexico & Google has bent over to accommodate.
I have been researching & writing about maps & colonialism for last 3 yrs for my book.
Trump is showing the same imperialistic mentality (& fragility) as 18th century

This is what targeting of trans people leads to- justifying invasion of privacy for girls and threatening their freedom and spirit. Girls will be afraid to look different, or wear ‘boys clothes’ or have short hair. Well done- is this what women have been fighting for all these years?

As birthright of native First Nations people is questioned under this Trump administration a legend has passed. Jaune Quick-to-See Smith was a pioneer, a visionary and her work challenged the pervasive myths of Euro-American cultural hegemony. I was just writing about her yesterday.

For all the men in the police force who have proven to be rapist and incompetent here is another white man railing against women being unfit for public life. These people are so insecure and fragile and utterly terrified of being irrelevant
