I overfilled the cat's drinking fountain and it took me several minutes to stop looking for a cup that could be used to scoop water out and start just holding a cup under the water stream

I am not a smart man

I can't believe I have to say this, but please do not take revolutionary OPSEC advice from YA novels Cory Doctorow wrote almost twenty years ago.

/8 As the cops who showed up at this American’s door are on video, an appropriate and proportional response would be to identify them and circulate widely their name, picture, and duty areas to warn citizens to watch out for them, as they do not respect constitutional rights.

I found this chart a few days ago, lost it again and found it just now. Really useful for working out what a cluster of "flu-like" symptoms might mean.

I'm not a medical professional, your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, etc.

I just added the 216th (= 6x6x6) entry to my "I heard about it from Fango" Letterboxd list!

(I like to have an idea of WHY I watchlisted something.)

I just did two things:

1) ran grep(1) out of memory
2) discovered that (one of) the longest word(s) I can make out of the IATA codes I could find easily on Wikipedia is "alphanumeric"

This pleases me to no end.

Where does the matter go when it's converted to energy? Is there intelligent life elsewhere in the universe? Why did Ubuntu choose a godawful shade of magenta for their xterm background color?

These are the universe's greatest mysteries

Really hoping that one of the films for The Last Drive-In tonight is Frozen (2010). Unlikely but one lives in hope.

every gift-giving season i'm amazed that online retailing doesn't have flows built around me buying a gift for someone else.

there's no point adding *me* to your email list for tension wrench enthusiasts, but I'm sure my mom would love to be on it, since she's who's getting a brand spanking new one

I wanted something to get me in a creepy mood — if I'm not fretting that I'm not alone in the house by the end of the night I'll be a little bummed out — so to kick off, I rented MAN FINDS TAPE, and it was a great way to start things off.
