I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

I know nothing about Dr Who, but, for Londoners, the phrase "Going For Dinner With Billie Piper" is the absolute best way to remember the order of the vertical streets running east to west in Soho (Greek, Frith, Dean, Wardour, Berwick, Poland) and has saved many a late night out

It'd be nice of Downing Street would wholeheartedly condemn the Lam mass-deportation stuff, but it's also an enormous failure of the centre-right to maintain a cordon sanitaire against this slide.

Trying to think of a more inhumane policy that a mainstream party has floated in my lifetime, and I'm coming up blank.
Here Lam explicitly sets out her proposal - which is official Conservative Party policy - to deport long-standing legal permanent residents who have *ever* claimed any benefit, including the state pension or child benefit (even if the child is British), or who earn less than £39K.

Science, tech, environment reporting are woeful currently. Something that blasts excitement about what a golden age we're in of discovery (vaccines, computing, space exploration etc etc) but can also be a trojan horse for warnings on climate etc

Is there a word for the phenomenon where if someone asked you to write down the lyrics of a song that you had not heard for ages, you wouldn't be able to do it, but if you were asked to sing along you would recall the words just in time to be able to sing it.

This chimes with me too. Had a request from our support teams that they need better documentation for our Config. Could have used a tool, but didn't want to introduce a dependency for something that was really small. So I gave myself an hour to see what I could do with Claude.
