My brother wanted a London pub crawl. The result? My new Substack post: "Britain Lost 14,000 Third Places. They were Called Pubs. Is Your Local Next?" How private equity reshaped the local, which pubs are most at risk and most importantly what to do about it.

I have spent the day today trying to hack together a solution for U.K. addresses using various Google places API's and let's just say I am now fully on board the @jamesomalley.co.uk "Free the Postcode Address File" ship.

TIL that my recently deceased Father in Law, Kenneth Runciman Annand was in the Chorus for Duelling of The Fates. He never mentioned it, even though he knew I was a Star Wars fan, as he didn't consider it proper music.

BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Today I discovered that if my car locked itself while I was in it, and I didn't have the key with me, then I wouldn't be able to get myself out.

Modern life really is rubbish.

You would hope there are several right wing Americans that look at this and have a "are we the baddies" moment.
Holy crap.

This is the most damning video yet.

It shows Border Patrol agents clearly taking Alex's firearm, running it away, and THEN executed him in cold blood by emptying a clip into his face.

Murder.

One thing that always gets me a while to get used to after not working in #fsharp for a while is the ordering

For those not aware, F# reads things in order, both in a module, and the file system. So the entry point for a program must be the last file, and in any module, the entry point is last.
