I teach students linguistics theories by introducing them to variation of “theory” in natural and social sciences and comparing them to conspiracy theory — but never thought about adding color theory to my lecture until just now.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Explained to 5yo that the Reeses pumpkins don’t have a face on them like they do in the picture, but that you can eat them that way if you want. A bit of evolution later and now these are ‘do it yourself (jack-o’-lantern) Reeses’

My white kindergartner goes to a school that's 95% Latine and Indigenous kids. She knows that police and ICE don't protect her or her friends. We've been clear with her about that because our community doesn't have the luxury of hiding from that reality. Our people are being kidnapped.
If you think your kids aren't old enough to hear about what's happening in this country, remember that there are millions of kids their same age who don't have that choice.
"[Chicago mom] Andrea Soria... overheard her 6-year-old whisper to her dolls: 'We have to be good or ICE will get us.'"

As always, if you see someone shoplifting food or diapers… no you didn’t.
[VALJEAN]
I stole a loaf of bread.
[JAVERT]
You robbed a house.
[VALJEAN]
I broke a window pane.
My sister's child was close to death
And we were starving.
[JAVERT]
You will starve again
Unless you learn the meaning of the law.

there are three good donations options for food banks: (1) got too much of this good thing (usually from companies but cpuld be your garden produce!) (2) money. (3) something you buy specifically to share because its nice to share. My kids each pick something they like to share with the food bank.
Hey I love that you want to help, and maybe you hadn’t considered this before, so I say this gently and with love:
Donating expired or damaged food items (like crushed bags of chips) is insulting and hurtful. Please don’t.
Rule of thumb: would you give it to a friend?
