Over the past month, I’ve been working on a grant application for the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) and employees say Musk and Trump are about to defund institute. I’m pissed, but more than anything I just hope we can effectively fight back against all of the tyranny.

I created a R script to see how many times one of those words came up in my recent NSF grant submission. The answer was 355 (!) times. Laughing but crying. Mostly crying.
Here's the code if you want to try it on your grant: github.com/calvinklai/d...

Exactly this. It's really gross to see people arguing that their research will be "unfairly" flagged/catch strays. It sets a scary precedent where people start pointing fingers and suggesting that "those people" are the problem, but not them. Quite chilling.
Some people’s research will be flagged and then will move on with clarification. Other people’s research will be flagged and… it’s done. The differences in who those people are will not be random.
Slightly annoying how many of the comments are like, "This is written so broadly it's going to even affect ME over here in chemistry" or whatever. We need to (always) stand together as scientists whether you're the target or the collateral damage.

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

Question from a colleague: has anyone working with hair cortisol dealt high % of participant refusal to do the actual hair sampling? Bonus points if you figured out a solution. Please re-Sky (what are we even calling that, I need to use this platform more) to widen the reach!

Led by the incomparable @jordanlevinson.bsky.social, we offer the most updated (and in my opinion comprehensive) understanding of how weight stigma is associated with disordered eating cognitions and behaviors. Give it a read! And folks hiring in this area, Jordan will be on the market soon! 😉
🚨After 2+ years of work, our sys review on the relationship between weight stigma & disordered eating has finally been published!!! Thank you to @drhunger.bsky.social & @shrutikinkelram.bsky.social

As I’ve said before, Haley & Scott are in the unenviable position of running in a party in which their acceptance requires that they assuage whiteness at every turn.
And assuaging whiteness today—as it has in the past—means not mentioning slavery when one is asked about the cause of the Civil War.

"What do you want me to say about slavery?" should be the end of Nikki Haley's political career.

Okay I clearly need to fix my profile pic because copying directly over from Twitter was not a resounding success, but hellllllo Bluesky! I hope that some sort of GIF interface happens soon because you all know that's how to get me to stay.
