If only OpenAI could have foreseen the entirely predictable hazards of irresponsibly releasing this tech. I guess the estate of every dead person will have to individually request a special dispensation to no longer have disgusting videos made by OpenAI’s tools.

This is great, but we need to consider the cognitive impact of a media environment that can shift the very perception of reality on a dime.

Reposting myself, how silly of me.
I've always enjoyed meta humor (long before #facebook changed its name to #meta and made itself a meta joke). This is why I find it funny to include a #Google #AI definition of #hyperstition, and a description of how AI generates self-fulfilling prophecies.

Note, my alt-text adds context.

I'm going to keep throwing around terms like #accelerationism and #hyperstition, so I we'll also include this in depth introduction to nick land.

I don't think Meta is truly safe for anyone at this point.

I still monitor and document its content.

If I shared what I see on Facebook Reels, for instance, it would rightfully be removed. The content is mostly fearmongering, racist pseudohistory, derealization fodder, and targeted hate speech.

The push for AI makes sense when you understand that it is a subsidiary of the cult of Accelerationism. The father of Accelerationism, Nick Land, regards capitalism and AI as being one and the same - and that humanity must be sacrificed in its name.

I'll say it a million times before this is all over (if this is all ever over): our most important audience is each other.
Occurs to me that Trump's entire regime consolidation strategy is to persuade everyone through displays of force that the regime is already consolidated and there's no point in resisting. Which I don't think will work, but also shows how important public acts of noncompliance are.

It is still jarring that government organizations like NSF and DOJ now equate racism with including markers of class in application processes
Here's the letter that NSF sent UCLA last week about cutting its research funding

NSF says UCLA is doing affirmative action by asking applicants' their zip codes, family income and what HS they went to, and that they can discuss race in personal statements

My dad (never dx'd), used to complain about this all the time! I thought it never happened to me, but I habitually countered this with intense hypervigilance (I do not recommend). So, nowadays, I need occasional breaks from external audio-visual stimuli.

Technically satire, but after decades of masking so tightly it felt like my skin, o n l y to crack wide open or completely drop THAT persona "on stage" in costume on Halloween, or as a character in theatre, with a script and an actual director! I think that explains a few things.
