Unsurprisingly, the portland police bureau is fighting a mask and tear gas ban
We are at a crossroads. The Police Union can choose to stand with Portlanders, to stand against fascism, or they can continue to obstruct policies that would reign the feds in because they see a kinship with corrupt law enforcement and not with the good people of our city.

There is a choice here.
The current Portland City Councilors who are endorsed by the police union are:

Smith (D1), Ryan (D2), Novick (D3), Zimmerman (D4), Clark (D4)

Listing them because the Portland Police Association is making it a fight to have a masking ban (for law enforcement) and a tear gas ban.

This description is exactly right. Children, dogs, elderly people all moving slowly in the march were suddenly hit with flash bangs and an enormous bombardment of nasty gas. It was terrible.
Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

Abolish the democratic leadership while we abolish ICE
Jeffries: "We believe there should be a prohibition on ICE deporting or detaining American citizens. We believe that ICE should conduct itself like every other law enforcement agency in the country. We believe ICE shouldn't run around with masks ... "

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official wrote in court filings Tuesday that the agency intended to build a temporary holding and processing center in Newport, Oregon, confirming rumors that have swirled through the coastal community for months.
ICE official confirms Newport detention center efforts in court filing
The effort to build an ICE detention center was put on hold after community members raised concerns – and then sued to keep a U.S. Coast Guard rescue helicopter in Newport, which court filings show was moved in the midst of ICE’s construction efforts.

It’s really difficult & disorienting but the feds hit LA extremely hard today. There were kidnappings all over & reported cluster raids in Chinatown, East LA, Ktown. This list shows to 1130 AM but they haven’t stopped all day

Just because the media attention stopped doesn’t mean the abductions have

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

Important not to lose sight of what’s starting up in Maine right now.
Why is the msm outside of Maine not covering this? It seems like a huge and very troubling story to me. ICE coming to observers houses or calling them on the phone warning them to back off??!! www.pressherald.com/2026/01/23/i...

NY Times continues to suck
By who? Who shot the person dead? You saw the video. We all know a federal agent shot a man dead who was prone on the ground. Also, it's not "according to officials." It's according to verified video seen with your eyes. Not saying what anyone can obviously see with their eyes is a form of lying.

TW: ICE execution
"We will murder you if you dare to record us brutalizing your neighbors."
I just left Minnesota yesterday. And just now I got word that ICE fascists have killed yet another constitutional observer in Minneapolis. HORRIFIC.

This is a revival of Jim Crow fascism in full force. There is no fixing this. Abolishment is the minimum. We need full prosecution. ABOLISH ICE.

fuck ICE and all the complicit Republicans (and democrats)
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

They placed her and her five year old daughter in a hotel and told them not to contact anyone.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.

Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

It's happening, here.

We need certainty on who is operating in our city limits, and if the feds won't show credible indicia of authority, we need to create a pathway towards verifying who these people are, as one more step forward.
