Feel it’s very important to say a big thanks to the NHS and specifically Warrington Hospital.
Have been suffering mega gallbladder pain for a while, got admitted at the start of last week, had gallbladder removed by end of week. Great care and great outcome.
Legends, thank you.

Also every MS Teams call. I’ve been competently using computers since the 90s, but Teams is made with liquid sadism.

Magnolias are the oldest flowering plants, dating back to the dinosaurs. Bees didn't exist then, so they're pollinated by beetles. SF's Botanical Garden has one of the best magnolia collections in the world. They have started blooming now, peaking next month. Go visit:

Been trialing Qobuz for music and it’s really good. It’s based in France too, and those guys are pretty great overall.

Here's another photo of a two-spotted octopus. He's waving a couple arms in the lower part, trying to distract me, and getting ready to jet away to the right. Which is what happened next.

Octopi really hate being the center of attention.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

Really love how our instinctive response to an awful smell is to flare our nostrils so we can smell it loads more. Fabulous work, evolution

New word for the day: ekphrastic, means “a vivid, detailed description of of visual art, to bring the artwork to life and explore its meaning, emotions and narrative”.

It was in the London Arts-Based Research Centre email and I will now spend the rest of my life trying to work it into conversation.
