The BMA and many others warned that this was coming, and now it is here. The UK government must act immediately to prevent widespread death in Gaza from hunger. This is entirely man-made and is intolerable.

The @theIPCinfo has declared a man-made famine in Gaza City.

We are horrified by the increasing suffering of civilians and continued attacks on healthcare.

Health, medicine and the conflict in Gaza
The BMA is profoundly concerned by the health and humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Our interventions are given on this page.

Hospitals should be places of safety, but they’re increasingly under attack in conflict zones.

mRNA vaccines are a game-changer. Faster to develop, generally safer, easy to modify, huge potential for wider applications (e.g. cancer). If the vaccine has been approved, it's already been thoroughly tested in randomised controlled trials. Nobody's trying to poison anyone with these vaccines.

Hub appts £48
Pharmacy First £48
ARRS £35

An important read for everybody concerned about the rising number of attacks on medical staff and facilities worldwide.

Importantly, it not only analyses the current situation but specifies what must be done to rectify this situation.

I am proud to have contributed.
In conflicts around the world, healthcare is increasingly targeted, in clear violation of international humanitarian law. Governments, the international community, and medical organisations must act now. Our new report ‘Medicine Under Attack’ sets out how www.bma.org.uk/what-we-do/w...

Governments – including our own – must do more to ensure medical neutrality is respected.

Amongst other recommendations, we are calling for the establishment of a UN Special Rapporteur on the Protection of Health in Armed Conflict.

Some information being shared is incorrect, so we've released a statement to provide clarity. Read it here: www.bma.org.uk/what-we-do/w...

I had no hesitation in signing this on behalf of the BMA, but it's dreadful that such letters have to be written.
Today, we've written to David Lammy MP, calling on the Government to take immediate action to prevent famine in Gaza.

As Israel continues their blockade of humanitarian aid, 1 in 5 people face imminent starvation and hospitals are running out of medicines fast.

Reminds me of the time as a teenager when I was stood on the amazing Uffington Castle, and was accosted by a party of breathless Americans and asked where the castle was.
