Racism is not a mental health condition or a cognitive issue, it is simply racism. Implying that it is a form of pathology is a great distancing tactic to avoid engaging with your own role in it!
Just want to say, I see all the comments saying it’s a sign of his senility or mental decline. You could be right but I have a thing about linking racism to mental acuity. Not sure it needs to be, most of the time, and I don’t like the idea of racism as deviant, for a lot of reasons.

This is a reflection on the uses of despair in the neoliberal university. I use a couple of stories, experiences, and arguments to consider the question: How do we deploy hope in response to racial injustice in the midst of despair? Should we continue to do so? Why?
