Many thanks.

We used NSAIDs previously when Teddy's kidneys were OK (and could see the results) but when his kidney's started too fail then they wre proscribed and Teddy's stomach didn't take to well to the non-NSAID alternatives (vomiting/diarrhoea).

Previous replies covers most of what I’d say. Potentially it could be arthritis & NSAID’s can work wonders (they don’t complain - so monitor walks). Librela injections helped with Ted (just not enough) & rugs/mats to stop slides on wooden floors. I was avoiding stairs with Ted as much as possible.

Because Teddy was a rescued racing dog it was clear he never really got to be a puppy and learn how to play but with us I think it was clear he was very happy.

Sadly on Dec 30th we said goodbye to Teddy our 12 yr old rescue greyhound. We selfishly kept him with us for 1 last Xmas.

He was a beautiful sweet gentle dog that in the 8+ years he was a part of our family made our lives a better happier place.

He was my constant companion & I miss him terribly.

One of the great things to do is to go for a walk with an audiobook.
If you have a dog to keep you company on the walk that’s a bonus.

Those 44% and 100% are over the whole year. Today the UK was about 60% so guessing Scotland was net exporter today. Scotland does well cause onshore wind and hydro, England has most solar and increasingly huge amounts offshore wind (tho Scotland will have offshore too).

10% was solar at lunchtime.. overall UK is about 44% renewable.. by itself, Scotland is running about 100% of electric demand from renewable over the year (eg net exporter)..: though of course it can only do so by being part of a bigger grid, and earlier stuff (eg RO) was paid for by whole of UK.

He was liberated on 23 April 1945 near Donaueschingen.

He became a doctor.
Today he turns 100.
Happy birthday!

Not to be nationalistic, but how much renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro) makes up Scottish demand?

I’m thinking that it will be more than 10%.

As always an excellent thread.

Not sure if this is apocryphal but I was told that the traditional ‘Champagne Method’ was perfected in England as, at the time, their technology was capable of creating more robust/thicker glass bottles.

Happy New Year by the way!

This is great.

This year on Bluesky I wrote 152 posts & 265 replies. I received 784 likes, with 81 for most popular post, & apparently I love saying "not" (throwback to Wayne’s World) & 📌 (before we could Bookmark)!
Though I also did use ~2.3K ‘unique’ words.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Penguin Projectile Pooping - the thread you didn’t know you had to read.
ALMOST EVERYTHING about penguins is cute.

There is *one exception*: they are champion poop producers. Specifically, they would win the long-distance contest.

Humboldt penguins can propel poop well over twice their own height (picture is unrelated).

Warning: thread contains penguin defecation.
