Forever a Christian nation, celebrating the birth of Christ, an immigrant, by deporting…immigrants.
Peace on earth, goodwill to men.

Before the 1990s, plane crashes caused by microbursts used to kill planeloads of people fairly regularly.

Dr. Ted Fujita and NCAR scientists figured out how to detect microbursts and warn pilots about them.

Since then? Zero airliner crashes from microbursts.

So much of this feeling is what bothers me about the LLM push. It’s a way to generate the content equivalent of fast food, not save people time to cook good meals at home. (I know not EVERYONE, but <gestures around>)
I could have finished this piece in five minutes this morning by prompting an LLM. And I think my editor would take it. The rest of the article is solid. This is just the concluding frame.

But had I done so, the thought would be flabby and woefully incomplete. I'd be wasting my readers' time.

Two weeks ago, I posted that Python 3.14 was the fastest available/usable Python in @conda-forge.org.To keep new releases as quickly usable as possible, I'm reviewing this week what we did in this release and what we can already do to make Python 3.15 even faster: uwekorn.com/2025/12/15/p...
Learnings from the Python 3.14 migration
Personally, I was keen to ensure that Python 3.14 availability on conda-forge was as good as possible on the actual release day. conda-forge’s build infrastructure is a massive benefit, and I wanted t...

Python scientist users and educators: how long do you want to be warned about deprecated behavior in your research code & classroom examples/exercises before things change? What pace of change do you find acceptable? (This is not about @metpy.bsky.social)

This Lane Kiffin debacle means every other coach, fan, and commentator can just stop it with the pearl clutching about the lack of loyalty from players in the portal era.

You want loyalty? Needs to start at the top.

It’s possible that Texas A&M just isn’t all that good? They were undefeated against 7 of the bottom 8 teams in the SEC standings—and lost to the only one they played outside of that. Otherwise, it’s all contingent on a 1-pt win over ND—whose major claim to fame is only losing to Miami and Texas A&M.

when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

That’s Alabama’s 7th loss at home since 2008. I’ll take that OU win however we get it.

This fan base won’t be SEC-ready until it just takes the W’s however they come.

So are the immigrants illegally on welfare or buying houses? Neither is a thing at scale, but you sure as hell are not doing both.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
