I'm a longtime fan of Not Just Bikes, but his 95(!) minute video on John Forester and Vehicular Cycling is truly his magnum opus.

If you are even remotely interested in the history of bicycling in America, it is worth a watch.

I avoid talking politics at my day job.

But holly shit, multiple people are pissed AF at the Dems caving on the shutdown. I am hearing it loud in the office today.

After doing over a decade of activism on the ground to get more homes built here in California. This line is the crux of why purely local reforms do not work.

You can have hundreds of hours of community meetings and still will not convince a critical mass of people to build an apartment complex

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

it drives me actually insane to have people romanticizing subsistence agriculture as if that's not just playing russian roulette with your family's lives year by year, and that every single one of their ancestors would throttle them for suggesting giving up their email jobs

I personally think it should be illegal for a city government have a public “workshop” go for 7 hours until 2am.

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.

My million-dollar $ idea is instead of having College & Young Democratic groups fundraise themselves as 22-year-olds, we just set up sustaining grant funding

My friends & I did it starting in 2017 after Trump 1 and raised tens of thousands for the UC Davis College Democrats for almost a decade now
ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections
