Apparently, this is an unpopular opinion, but there's a difference between a social movement and a religion, and the people who blur the two lines are often theists who want to pull the "See, you DO worship something!" gambit at atheists who otherwise don't belong to any religion.

I can't imagine being part of the Lore Olympus "fandom." I'm convinced they just hate-read it and then cyberbully the creator. If I don't like a piece of media, I stop consuming it. I might make a singular post expressing my dislike, but I don't actively cyberbully the creator.

It’s wild to think about how people feel that MeToo, Black Lives Matter, etc went too far as we watch the rights of women and the safety of Black people being further stripped away.
It is just part of the same pattern as we’ve always seen: any inch towards equality is seen as an existential danger.
