A sad occasion but a beautiful ceremony. Niko had been a Dolphin Club member for 2-1/2 years.
Members of San Francisco’s cold water swimming community memorialized Nikolas Tomasevic with an aquatic Hawaiian tradition honoring lost loved ones.

Our major clubhouse-renovation project--seven years in the planning, funding, and permitting--began today! Affected: weight room, boathouse, galley, elevator, electrical. Not affected: locker rooms, showers, saunas.

Once abundant in California waters, the sunflower sea star was nearly wiped out by sea star wasting disease. The cause wasn't clear at first, but one culprit has been identified—a bacterium named Vibrio pectenicida. This finding may help scientists understand and control this disease.

I'll be 55 on Saturday. It's literally my job to explore San Francisco and pass on my finds to others.
