Musician Sam Fender has donated his £25,000 Mercury Prize winnings to the Music Venues Trust, to support its work securing the future of grassroots venues around the UK.

Fender: “I wouldn’t be doing what I am today if it wasn’t for all the gigs I played [at small venues] when I was starting out."

I've been dipping in and out of this incredible book for the last few weeks, discovering so many quality tunes I'd not heard before. This particular mix still stands up now 'The Beat By DJ Spun (West Coast Breakbeat Rave Electrofunk 1988-1994) Vol 2' aboveboardprojects.bandcamp.com/album/the-be...

For years, I've carried a two USB sticks full of music with me whenever I go traveling. On the off chance, i'm at a club and the DJ can't make it or is taken sick, I can step in.

One of the things I'm undertaking in my refreshed design of The Letter is fixing and/or removing broken links. Turns out the two most reliable resources are Soundcloud and Discogs. So many other broken links!

It's been a busy few months personally but I now have a little spare time to work on The Letter! And I'm excited to say: a new site is in the works!

I've been wading through all my old posts aiming to consolidate over 20 years of blogging about electronic music, into a more accessible format.
