My eldest son eats so many carrots I need to buy 4-5kg a week!

One day I'm going to wake up to him like
bugs bunny is wearing a cape and holding a carrot and says eh what 's up doc ?

Diversity is our greatest asset, even if the government disagrees… They not like us! POC in STEM are here to stay.

They tried to rig the game but you can’t fake influence!

Amazing work (although I started to feel itchy seeing the burrowing mites 😬)

But even more inspiring is her lab's outreach work - building genuine relationships with traditional owners and bringing a passion for STEM to remote communities.
First up this morning is Katja Fischer from @qimrb.bsky.social. Katja is discussing her work on scabies - from detection, characterisation, and her more recent translational work in the clinic!

After that plane literally flipped upside down after smashing into the runway and 100% of people survived, I hope every person who ever said “what’s even the point of seatbelts on a plane” feels like a real doof.

Brilliant work as always from Lynn!
Next up is the Hartland Oration, this year delivered by Lynn Nazareth from @csiro.bsky.social. Lynn is presenting her work on ex vivo models of nasal epithelia to examine influenza replication, which won her the best ECR talk at our Young Investigator Symposium!

I sincerely apologise for the insanely large photo of myself in this blog, which seems rise menacingly across your screen as you scroll 😱 (you've been warned)

Fun, pun-filled explainer of our teams work, though!

Ooook, after the US election I feel kinda gross having an account on Ol' Musky's bird app, so I'll be here full time methinks.

Any recommendations for good, inclusive science content?

TL;DR: Rabies is dangerous because by the time you start having symptoms YOU ARE FUCKED. It's spread by mammals, so the best thing to do to prevent yourself and everyone you love from ending up COMPLETELY FUCKED is to vaccinate your pets for it, and support vaccination programs for wildlife.
