On occasion it’s actually quite challenging to get someone to recognize a stealth metaphor such as “open mind.” Sagan’s incorporation of a container metaphor (. . . falls out) into the mix however deftly invites such recognition. Thanks @abbylynreed.bsky.social for the repost!
