Yet, this seems to be exactly what the @royalsociety.org is doing by not acting to censure Elon Musk, who is at the heart of the MAGA anti-science movement in the US.

You should not taking it for granted start by getting your own house in order.
“So far the worst [of the anti-science movement] has not yet hit the UK. It is not something to take for granted over the coming years, however.” Sir Adrian Smith PRS spoke to Robin McKie as he marked 40 years as the Observer's science editor: www.theguardian.com/science/2025...
What I’ve learned after 40 years as the Observer’s science editor
Almost as amazing as the knowledge we have gained in the past four decades is the fact that some people continue to deny the damage we are doing to our world

Fujitsu swore it wouldn’t bid for public contracts until the Horizon scandal inquiry wrapped up. And yet a new £300k MoD deal just landed in its lap. Their “no-bid” pledge is looking more like a PR stunt riddled with loopholes.

🚨I promised I'd say more on the Royal Society and Elon Musk, so here it is. 🚨

I've resigned my position as Associate Editor at Royal Society's journal Open Science in protest at their lack of action over Elon Musk.

Elon Musk is a proven danger to good science, but the Royal Society won’t say so. That’s why I resigned | Kit Yates
It is vital to act, and I urge colleagues to do so. How can we stand by and laud this man while he undermines scientific integrity? asks academic and author Kit Yates

Simon Jack on Today commented that Octopus giving out electric blankets to help the hard up this winter was tokenism. He obviously doesn’t need to sit with a hot water bottle and blanket on his knee when it’s cold, as many elderly people do.
