Drug wars, the wrong man being shot, escapes to Dubai... the crazy thing about this story is it's actually true. As @danhayesjourno.bsky.social filled me in on his chats with police and trips to court my jaw hit the floor.

Don't miss his incredible piece on one of SYP's biggest investigations:
“Let’s hope their investigation is shit then you can come home,” wrote Paris Askew to her boyfriend Ethan Hallows on 17 December 2023, four days after Kevin Pokuta had died.

“They picked the wrong team," says DS Lindsay Harding.

This is the story of how South Yorkshire Police cracked a conspiracy.

@danhayesjourno.bsky.social has been working on this one for some time.

It's an extraordinary story - how do you track a killer when they shot the wrong man?
When 19 year old Kevin Pokuta was shot and killed in Page Hall in December 2023, it seemed to be a totally random attack.

“It was a genuine whodunnit, which we rarely have,” says Detective Sergeant Lindsay Harding.

This is the story of how detectives from South Yorkshire Police caught his killer.

The case of Andrew Milne, the London solicitor who has been demanding thousands of pounds from Sheffield leaseholders, has just been raised in Parliament.

Phil Brickell MP said Milne had been “bullying, harassing and threatening” homeowners and called on the SRA to crack down on “crooked lawyers” 👀

Despite what you may have heard, homicides in London are at their lowest level since records began. But if you're black, there's less to celebrate.

After speaking to homeowners in tears following his "very aggressive" letters - many who have paid over £25k to him - I've been working to track Andrew Milne down and ask some questions. Yesterday, I finally found him.
We've been asking Andrew Milne about his threatening letters for weeks. After he stopped responding to e-mails, we visited several of his properties, but he wouldn't come to the door.

But yesterday we finally tracked him down - to a Costa in east London 👇

We've been e-mailing Andrew Milne to ask why he has been threatening high court action over minor home alterations, why his letters have been described as "very aggressive" by the local MP and why he tried to take Becky's mum's home.

He didn't answer. So we decided to find him 👇
