Crazy busy day and have been battling time, but got team selections I’m reasonably pleased with for Velogames Provence and Murcia.

Had a stormer in Besseges, then took a battering in Valenciana and Oman. Need some good points in these contests.

The Daily Telegraph:

Going out of their way to make the roads more hostile for cyclists.

Fanning the flames of ignorance and manufacturing outrage, without any care or responsibility to the real world consequences.

Complicit in emboldening dangerous driving attitudes.

If you give the keys back to someone who’s used their vehicle as a weapon, you’ve told them their behaviour will be tolerated and they’ll most likely do it again.

Abolish the hardship defence. If whatever (excuse) was so important to them, they’d have never have risked it in the first place.

This is a prime example of what I refer to as “judicial leniency“ towards dangerous drivers.

It’s baked in, a self fulfilling prophecy which continues the cycle of road violence. Every year, month, week, day robs families of their loved ones, without even the merest semblance of justice in return.

Was a great final stage in the Tour if Oman and flash back to this time last year, Astana fighting for WT survival in what seemed to be a complete long shot.

A year on and they’re winning GC with Scaroni at Tour of Oman, whilst clearly being the strongest team in the race.

VPP hard dropped.

Just popped out to drop off a few things and instantly reminded of 1) how intolerable rush hour traffic is and 2) how many drivers either don’t give a sh!t or happy to break the law.

The woman blocking the exit in front of me there sat there texting away just shows how brazen such attitudes are.

The public absolutely demand more from the Labour gov’t. Do those fighting endlessly to defend Labour really want the party to be judged by Tory standards? Not exactly the ambition this country needs right now is it?! We were promised “change“, “national renewal” and “an end to the chaos” after all.
February 10, 2026 at 1:18 PM
The real reason notable Tories defected to Reform is that they were sorely missing the spotlight and their daily TV appearances having a go at defending the indefensible. It’s a fun game to them.
February 10, 2026 at 12:10 PM
14 years of Tory rule set this country back a generation. Leaving behind a country crumbling at it‘s foundations.

Indeed “change” and “national renewal” were apt slogans. But without vision, radical reforms and the sense of moral duty, those slogans would be nothing more than hollow soundbites.

Mia went for it and nearly (so nearly) made history. A whisker away from a potential gold medal.

Kokomo Marase just stepped up with something massive, that’s going to take some beating.

Well played Sweden, a near flawless game and put our GB duo under constant pressure which definitely affected some of the shots.

Crucial 5th end for GB in the curling. Sweden have played impeccably up to that point, but Jen backed herself to go for the riskier play, executed it and put the pressure back on the Swedes, resulting in a steal for GB.

Had the joy of watching the Women’s Big Air quals yesterday evening, was absolutely fantastic. The 2/3 jump criteria made for a brilliant final run full of clutch moments.

And of course, invested in Mia Brookes chances for 🇬🇧

Tonight, 6.30pm GMT, the Big 12 in the Big Air final. Essential viewing.

Mauro Schmid on absolute 🔥 atm. Just had too much for Scaroni. The puncheurs beat the climbers on Eastern Mountain, with Yates well back in 12th and VPP suffering an ill timed mechanical.

Martin Tjotta in 3rd, one hell of a result for him.

GC really nicely poised for Green Mountain 🧨

Big crash in the peloton on the roundabout just before the foot of Eastern Mountain. Looks like it involved all of Visma Lease a Bike riders. Held up about half of the peloton, so chaos as they try to chase back on.

Breakaway (7 strong) has been working really well in today’s Tour of Oman stage. Contains race leader Baptiste Veistroffer who’s been driving the pace. Pace that’s too much for Quentin Pacher who’s now dropped off.

Veistroffer has such an efficient aero position on the bike.

Drone footage on the downhill skiing beings another dimension to the coverage. Gives you an added appreciation of the speed and the forces they’re having to battle against on their way down the slope.
February 8, 2026 at 11:51 AM
Last year it was Louis Varvaeke fighting with everything he had to hold off the surging peloton and take the win on Yitti Hills.

This year it’s Baptiste Veistroffer. Running on fumes in that last 2km, but dug seriously deep to stay away and take a huge victory.

Bloody hell, Andalusia trip potentially now in jeopardy. Ridiculous complications with the freight courier that may put a block on the whole thing. Inevitably as a result of Brexit (yet another benefit).
February 8, 2026 at 10:07 AM
Einer Rubio DNS for Stage 2 of Tour of Oman (along with Brieuc Rolland due to illness). I think that’s me banning Rubio for further selection this year. He’s aiming to complete all 3 grand tours this season, so anything that potentially complicates that will be removed from the equation.
