hey, you out there trying to bring people together in compassion & solidarity, trying to help everyone meet needs & live a bit more easily (or at all)—everyone actively turning away from making shit worse & toward something else: hello, i recognize you, we’re doing this, it’s never too late.

easier this year somehow to energe from (& move about within) the inertia of other people’s holidays. maybe it’s because i’m less attached to my own difference & my own resentment.

that said, the inertia itself is real.🤷‍♂️

Robin Hoskins, an art model of 14 years, wishes people would appreciate the elegance and stamina required to pose for artists. “But most importantly, we need to be able to have a dignified wage and be able to earn a decent living, just like anyone else in any other successful profession.”
Art Models Struggle for a Living Wage and Recognition
The workers who pose for artists at historic organizations like the Art Students League say they are overworked and underpaid in a field that rarely values them.

i desperately need a relation-word for my spouse’s sister’s adult nonbinary offspring, because “nibling” sounds like they came out of a bag of frozen corn.

i’m not getting the sense it does them honor.

may you be safe from harm today. may your needs be met. may your life be honored. may your joys be supported. may you experience abundance you can share. may your griefs be respected & lovingly held. may your anger find beneficial action. may you have others who welcome your presence as yourself.

i have been getting so many trash follows & engagements lately 😡😡

it’s that time again:

solidarity reminder that you are not obligated to ingest anything harmful to your own body for the sake of “politeness”—even if you’re the only one at the gathering who can’t eat or drink whatever. no explanations on the spot. the onus is on the host to learn guests’ needs.

i love this label—just noticed the mise en abîme in the middle!

(need to replace the stuff itself, tho—losing its oomph)

aw, still getting royalties from my oldest books💗

it’s just a couple bucks, but not bad for 10-12 years on.

in a year or two i plan to put out a photo/poem book (as distinguished from a photopoem book, dig😉). i’ve got a good chunk of interesting, evocative photos that might go pretty well sharing pages with something i’m already putting together for next year, SEMAPHORE TROUSERS. but who knows!

for this holiday season, i urge you NOT to buy any of my books as last-minute gifts. if you gift my work to anyone, let it be someone who needs what it offers, & without the stink of obligation attached to it. let it be in its own season, the season of everyday relation, need, desire, compassion.🌱

so i’ve been obsessed with this collage by @allisonanne.com, which i received as a postcard print, part of my subscription to their TINDERBOX POST series of monthly collage mini-zines, fun ephemera & other treats made available on real paper & in your actual mailbox. my photo is bad but may suffice:

solstice ramble: finally got to the woods after more than a month without. we found a path we could never access before, leading to places we’ve always wanted to reach. a day of surprises.

i seem to be even less able to generate commentary than usual. that’s good; narrowing my verbal resource outlay to things that

only i can say

really need saying

won’t make matters worse

will at least potentially benefit others

a lot of quiet space.

well, if you need that, enjoy!

Tomorrow we're closing up the Ninepin / Phantom Mill shop for the remainder of the year, so if there's something you've been eyeing, now's your chance.

(Decks of cards doubling as gothic fiction and weird horoscopes do fit nicely in a stocking BTW.)
