Yesterday, at the refuge, a Bald Eagle was soaring in a thermal. I’m going to miss the winter sunlight illuminating everything from the side!

The stars are bright, not so late at night, deep in the heart of Stovepipe.
Long exposure shot of our parking lot campsite with our car in the four round with its tailgate popped up looking up into the sky with lots and lots of stars. Milky Way is pretty easily visible.

Washing machine hose replacement day, due to a leak at the washer’s hot water fitting. They were… like 10 years old. Don’t at me. It’s in an unfinished garage! Anyway, I noticed the leak before it reached the leak sensor. Yeah, I’m like that. #HomeDIY

Holy crap, that was insane!

I’ve been on a lot of flights to some interesting places doing what I do, but that was BY FAR the most heart pounding landing. St Barth over the hill with some very interesting crosswinds today. Even the seasoned pilot said today was “interesting.”

We’re back to hiring seasonals.

We had formerly stopped employing seasonal workers by converting them to permanent, then fired a lot of those newly converted permanent workers in the Valentine’s Day Massacre.

In a case we're familiar with, the difference in settlement between two employees, doing similar field work, was 2x based on one of the employees having better notes to justify backpay. Both settlements were $1000+.

At night, an artistic weather vain with one end as metal outlines of clocks or maybe wheels and spokes. The other end looks like a couple of paddles. It's all lit up with purpose. It does spin but no motion can be seen from the photo. Behind it are three lit up stars, probably christmas decorations for the waterfront. Lights across the harbor can be seen.
