My new book on human rights in psychiatry is now available as E-book at Springer Link. In the book I discuss the necessity of abolishing coercion in psychiatry and the dilemmas that are associated with it.

Although I'm not a fan of big tech companies, I totally agree. Google sites is very easy to use and to administer. No programming, but some (basic) templates. en.dirkrichter.net

Many thanks for the paper, much appreciated

Hi, any chance to have the paper sent by email? Thanks in advance

Interesting. Is there any convincing evidence that it works, e.g. against isolation or loneliness?

Besides the conflict of interest, most service users prefer working in the general labour market. I don't see the point.

Sounds familiar....

Thanks for covering, much appreciated

It's not surprising that the conservatives don't get it, but it's depressing that the center left parties make the same mistakes

I hope there won't be a day when I have to say the same. That's a message to the rest of the liberal world

This may be true for publishing, but being cut off from a bulk of literature behind a paywall is another matter

It's hidden behind a paywall, not free

It's a slightly updated and revised English version of my previous German book on the topic. People with university accounts should have access to the link. If not, send me a message and I will provide a PDF.

Can somebody provide the PDF to me? I don't have access which is surprising as I have had access to the SAMHSA site for years (residing in Europe). If so, please send it to dirk.richter@bfh.ch. Thanks in advance

We are witnessing a roll-back in mental health care towards a post-liberal psychiatry. See my new post on Substack:

My first post covers a new preprint paper by Tilman Steinert and me on an adversarial collaboration about the question of how to deal with coercion in psychiatry.
Please check the post dirkrichter.substack.com/p/adversaria...

An ode to Europe: our continent (including the UK of course) is a haven of political stability and liberalism (with certain exceptions) compared to other regions in the northern hemisphere:
The thing about Europe: it’s the actual land of the free now

Europe’s very real problems don’t look so bad by comparison

You're optimistic about that?

Es fehlt eine Warnung für die USA
It’s 9am TFT time here, and citizens are already gathering to protest Tariffs by the United States. Our plain clothes Officer Penguins are attempting to maintain calm, but unfortunately we keep losing them in the crowd.

Residing in Switzerland, I've received an application from an US research refugee who explicitly mentioned the political situation. Strange times, indeed...

Academics - where are academic jobs posted for non-UK non-North American countries? If you were looking for jobs in, say, the Nordic countries, or Australia, where do you look? Asking for all the PhDs who are on the market this year. (Pls no April fools jokes, their nerves are frayed as it is)

Gilt nur für das erste Buch und hält maximal 2 Wochen. Danach ist Sex wieder besser. Kein abnehmender Grenznutzen... Meine Erfahrung.
