Both sides want professors fired for being on the other side. Both sides think it's okay because they are good and correct and they only want evil false professors fired. Exactly the same goes for banning (removing from schools) books.

Everyone has a right to have chickens etc in their yard, and civil disobedience on this point, in the United States, is probably justified.
And at the same time, nothing happening in DC is, by itself, a good reason to disobey local laws.
