I reminded them that majority (not everything) is free/low/volunteer labor unless you work for the handful of major publications like ANN & CR.

One of the add'l problems with the strangulation of paid journalism in the US is that there are literal areas of coverage that are dying off. I look for knowledgable people are specialized areas of publishing all the time but there is no one to link to, no one to question, no one left to write.

But billionaires are killing everything good in journalism. They are not our saviors and never were. Read and support independent and local news outlets. Local news these days IS national news - look at Minnesota and Texas. We have to support these outlets.

Individual reporters and writers are still doing incredible, essential work at some billionaire-owned outlets. And some of those outlets still are some of the only orgs with the legal teams to best protect investigative reporting. So you'll see some of those journalists on some of these lists...

Huh. I think this is the first winter I’ve experienced where my internet router crapped out in addition to the power outages, lol. The problem is my mobile’s hotspot doesn’t produce a strong enough signal to access WP and WBD Screeners. Time to get a new router, I guess.
