I relate to this so much it's painful. But I think we've honestly reached that point in journalism where we need to start hiring our own lawyers (I have) and, more importantly, unionise. We're very much on our own now. Let's find a way to be independent together. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw5_...

But billionaires are killing everything good in journalism. They are not our saviors and never were. Read and support independent and local news outlets. Local news these days IS national news - look at Minnesota and Texas. We have to support these outlets.

Individual reporters and writers are still doing incredible, essential work at some billionaire-owned outlets. And some of those outlets still are some of the only orgs with the legal teams to best protect investigative reporting. So you'll see some of those journalists on some of these lists...

Support local and independent news, friends. Here are some starter packs.

Huh. I think this is the first winter I’ve experienced where my internet router crapped out in addition to the power outages, lol. The problem is my mobile’s hotspot doesn’t produce a strong enough signal to access WP and WBD Screeners. Time to get a new router, I guess.

The most interesting pattern I’m observing in the fan reviews for Matt Fraction’s Batman is that fans invest more in characters than individual runs, hence the complaints about inconsistent characterisation. I believe it.

journalists are workers who deserve to be paid fairly for our labor and I think that far too few consumers of media recognize or even care about this fact

I'm Diane Darcy. I'm currently writing my horror anthology, The Nightmare Theatre, on Substack. Each new story covers a different sub-genre of horror, including gothic, maritime, and slasher horror. My favourite horror movie set inside a home is Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse. #HorrorWritersChat

I think lawyers who have represented Epstein victims should consider developing a safe whistleblower programme for survivors to anonymously submit the names of the abusers and any evidence they have. From there, lawyers should reveal the identities of co-conspirators. www.youtube.com/watch?v=07MC...

To be a journalist you have to have both a support network behind you and *do the work*. But, Neil Gaiman wasn't ever that. He had the support network (ahem, Scientology/nepo), but his journalism was making adverts for niche scifi celebrity, making contacts & producing puff.
If he’s a ‘journalist’, the least he could do is present the ‘mountains of evidence’ he claims exists that ‘invalidate’ the allegations of his victims. That’s more useful at shaping public opinion than following the abuser playbook of gaslighting the public with the same tired self-pitying rhetoric.
