Attacking Iran fits with Trump’s desire to divert attention from his failures at home: his losses in the courts, his unpopular budget bill, millions of people protesting against his authoritarianism.

When he feels humiliated, he gets reckless.

Understand what's going on.

Pretty simple rule of thumb when wondering why the Trump administration does anything is to ask two questions:

1) is it racist?

Or

2) are they stupid?

Tends to cover most Trump administration stuff.

The MAGA heartland is really going to feel the pain. Maybe that’s what it takes to face reality.
I think there is going to be a Red Rural Recession and soon if all the cuts continue as is

All the firings, cancelling of grants and contracts with companies , the closing of offices, disproportionately impact small towns, cities and states.

Their finances will be turned upside

I’ve decided if my grandmother’s portrait has managed to survive for more than a century, I can hang on for four more years. It’s remarkable story. frahmannthoughts.wordpress.com/2025/02/13/s...
Surviving to Another Day
I have decided to take inspiration from a pastel portrait of my maternal grandmother. It—and the woman it portrays—went through a lot since an itinerant artist created it in Finland sometime in fir…

What is the difference between Susan Collins and a MAGA extremist? Nothing. She has no integrity.
Susan Collins says "After extensive consideration of her nomination, I will support Tulsi Gabbard to be the Director of National Intelligence." So that should be pretty much that.

Sounds like a plan to me
“Canada has the right, under domestic and international law, to suspend patent rights held by U.S.-controlled companies in key sectors, such as pharmaceuticals and artificial intelligence. This would put tremendous pressure on the Trump administration.” www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com...
Opinion: Canada must hit the U.S. where it hurts most: its lucrative patents
If the United States declares economic warfare on Canada, we need policies that not only cost U.S. firms but create opportunities for Canadian ones

Just visited them to see the baby pups
During this holiday week, visitors make the elephant seal bluff one of their activities. They are astonished and delighted to see a herd of wild animals, right there for them to observe! Free, always open.

More pups are being born, daily. High surf puts them at risk.

Luxuriating in my Trump Detachment Syndrome. Looking for rainbows in life. And wondering whether I could possibly stand attending the 50th class reunion of the 1975 Columbia School of Journalism now that I’ve abandoned news.
