Hiking, food, books, being around people without having to talk to them, being around trees and talking to ALL of them, road trip adventures, and checking off lists are my jam. Spouse. Parent to my awesome little.

While I avoid the outside world more and more, inside my little home bubble our garden is thriving. We've had almost 10 salads or stir fries from it already. #gardyn

All news coming out of the US sounds like “tariffs for everyone. Tariffs for some. Tariffs for some people called Margery in April. Transgender hamsters will now be deported. All other countries are illegal. Betty Crocker to be investigated by DOGE. Babies back to the office by Tuesday!”

China, and probably others, is now actively targeting/recruiting fired federal workers to divulge sensitive info. Out of work people fired for no reason with families to feed and now extremely pissed off at America.... WTF did the administration think was going to happen? Oh, right, they didn't.

“The reason we face the worst is because it helps us imagine the best.” What a fantastic, hopeful read. Treat yourself to this, and then spread it around.
I wrote about the worst people in the world, charting the depths of their depravity and vastness of their incompetence, and offered some thoughts about the opportunity presented by their failure to acknowledge reality and their refusal to access any form of human virtue.

I hope in response to assassination of DEI that universities are adding the heavily weighted application essay of "describe adversity you've faced." Or other creative ways to continue doing DEI without calling it DEI. I feel like we can at least partially fight back by playing a semantics game.

At a loss for why resistance in this country is laying down dead instead of being a tiny bit creative/strategic. Declare this a celebration of accomplishment, overcoming adversity of slavery, fighting for freedom. Enslavement is not an "immutable quality." Play the damn semantics game and win it!
“The Maryland National Guard must decline events which celebrates individuals based all or in part on immutable characteristics,” the memo said.

Douglass was an abolitionist, suffragist, orator and author. That’s what we celebrate him. Let’s be clear: This bars celebrating him because he was Black.

the definition of adult vs child is always arbitrary but goddamn, the choices we make. 19: a child if you're trans and looking for healthcare. 12: an adult if you're Black and you've stolen a bike. 25: a kid if you're a white mass shoooter. 13: an adult if you're a girl getting married
The 20-year-old hackers are not “little boys” or “kids.” To call them such is to minimize the gravity of their actions. When I recall the long history of criminalizing Black youth and designating them “adults,” this makes my blood boil. The racialized construction of “childhood” holds strong.

[Retorical question] So are you saying Gazans are not from this world or not people?
This is a genocidal war crime endorsed by the president of the United States
COLLINS: Where exactly are you suggesting Gazans should go? Who do you envision living there?

TRUMP: I envision world people living there. The world's people. I think you'll make that into an international, unbelievable place.
