To say that he was my favorite filmmaker would be an understatement. It’s no exaggeration that for me personally, the fact that I got to be alive for 35 years on this planet while David Lynch walked the earth and made art is only akin to sharing oxygen with a literal prophet (1/15)

A truly awful day for movies and art, losing one of the most singular and brilliant voices to ever make them.

We've unlocked our full David Lynch issue from 2017, which is now entirely free to read.

R.I.P. Mr. Lynch, and thank you forever for the work and example you left us.

Absolutely gutted. An artist of such towering vision and presence. No one better at cross-examining the dreams and nightmares of American life.

There will never be another quite like him 💔

“Revisiting PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES every year is about more than just having something to put on TV after stuffing ourselves full of food & attempting to come down from our own holiday travel nightmares. It’s a reminder that strangers, like family, are worth some extra patience & kindness.”
You'll Never Make the Six: Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
When I was younger, 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' felt like a peek into a secret world of men that I knew so little about.

I wrote about people insulting Elon Musk and his relationship with Trump by calling him ‘Elonia’ or ‘First Lady.’

This approach doesn’t work both because it reinforces the language and approach of bigotry, and because it doesn’t hurt our powerful targets one bit.

We have to learn to punch up.

Finally got around to The Exorcist III and among many reasons to love it, every scene with these two is a treasure. A vein and grounding of compassion facing down such evils.

What a movie!
