Short walk today (not by choice, there wasn't any more to walk in the north - red is today's walk) 4.8 miles, and the north is done! Still a walk in the NE corner, and a couple of walks in the NW, but we're getting there! #WalkDurham

All Heng Li formats are alike: efficient, well documented, necessary.

All non-Heng-Li formats are broken in their own special ways.

Still recovering from some stuffy nose but had to get out of the house. 6.8 miles in two hours at the northern boundary, followed by a hearty Torero's meal. Always a delight to see all the Halloween decorations up! #WalkDurham

We have a cool new tool (in rust!) for bulk sequencing-based quantification brewing (github.com/COMBINE-lab/...). It should work well for RNA-seq quantification, metagenomic abundance estimation & related problems. Will put up quickstart guide soon for those interested in testing. Feedback welcome!

Needed to take my mind off of my committee meeting tomorrow so I took a short walk this evening - touched my northern boundary for the first time! I-85 really is loud, despite all the brick walls. #WalkDurham

Sneak peek of sandbox.bio v2 👀

Some of the new tools we will support: Freebayes, SeqKit, Lumpy, Kraken2, Jellyfish, Mummer, Kallisto, ViralMSA, Sniffles.

What other tools and tutorials would you like to see?

A promising long walk cut short by the weather - 7 miles, 2.5h nevertheless. Walked past CenterFest downtown, touched the easternmost boundary of Roxboro St, got caught in the rain (not a fan of that, but I do like piña coladas). Good start to the day! #WalkDurham

Today's walk brought me to a 100K! I started this project exactly a year ago, and while I haven't kept up the pace I expected, I am glad (and a bit amazed) that I kept it up. A lot was covered - and a good bit left, but today we savor this. (red - this year, black - bounds) #WalkDurham

Porting my #WalkDurham activity from the other place (twitter.com/devangvang/s...)

Back after a bigger summer hiatus, 8.8 miles in Trinity Park. Pretty old houses, green streets, the petrichor reminded me of Mumbai, and of a bygone era. #WalkDurham
