I am so goddamn tired of conservatives destroying things that belong to the public. This department doesn't belong to Sim, it's not his, he has no moral right to do this. This is social vandalism.

He just sucks so much. And he's not even a fun mayor who sucks, he's just boring and mid and awful.

Ken Sim hopes you don't see this screenshot from the City's 2026 Budget Feedback report.

By a more than 4-to-1 margin, residents of Vancouver preferred a tax rate that maintained public services to ABC's reckless 0% tax gimmick.

The vast majority of budget survey respondents says they’d payback moderate property tax increase to protect services.

Remember this is all to save the average condo owner 8 bucks a month.
Vancouver's proposed 2026 budget has been released.

It proposes a property tax freeze, a 10% increase to the Police Services budget, a 6% increase to Fire/Rescue Services, and lots of other cuts, including Arts & Culture, Planning & Sustainability, and much more.

Hi, I'm Kevin O'Leary, millionaire, Trump lover, Canadian, fraud, bad investor, and person who worships income disparity and believes people in poverty should admire the 1%. Here is why I am extremely angry and confused that I was not Zohran Mamdani's first priority and favourite special little boy
November 7, 2025 at 9:07 PM
We really are ruled by supervillains.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

Amusing to see celebrity leftists, politicians, and insiders who steadfastly ignored years of socialist electoral challenges here now basking in Mamdani's win and giving lessons on what we should learn from the win.

Having volunteered on and helped run socialist campaigns at the municipal level a few times here in Vancouver, what a joy it is to see the bar raised so spectacularly.

May Zohran Mamdani's historic win inspire us all to continue and to scale-up our political courage & the audacity of our efforts.

Congratulations, New York City!!

Zohran Mamdani’s win is historic, the result of a grassroots campaign that fought to make life more affordable.

Vancouver’s next municipal election is October 17, 2026.

This is why it’s a problem to have right-wing governments at the local government level. If passed, this budget would not only devastate services, it would pass debt to future councils.

Interest and inflation don’t magically disappear.

It’s “electoral math,” not fiscal prudence or good governance.
A number of amendments are being brought forward by opposition councillors, including having a line by line budget comparison or deferring this vote until after the budget survey, but is being defeated on party lines.

Based on timelines, full budget wouldn’t be voted on until early next year.
Mayor Sim’s zero means zero motion has been tabled. 43 speakers signed up. According to Sim, this means a zero percent property tax increase. No infrastructure tax increase.
