COP events drive the annual climate reporting season. The State of the Cryosphere 2025 report however, stands out. The report shows that critical thresholds have already been exceeded - its a must read.
My summary and thoughts: drtomharris.substack.com/p/we-cannot-...

We cannot negotiate with the melting point of ice.
The 2025 State of the Cryosphere Report reveals accelerating losses of ice sheets, mountain glaciers, sea ice and permafrost. This impacts everyone, but growing damage could still be reduced - barely.

Astronomy’s first gap-clearing planet fills in our “missing link”

We've seen protoplanetary disks with gaps, and fully mature systems with directly imaged planets.

For the first time, we've found them together: a disk-gap with an exoplanet inside.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

The term “redskins” was first adopted in the 1670’s to describe the “…mutilated and bloody corpses they left in the wake of scalp hunts”… settlers were paid bounties for scalps of indigenous people including women + children
This was Christian sanctioned.
