Worth a read if you're working in comms in the charity sector.

The RSPB confirming what we all suspected. The birds know... 😂
'Alright pal, got plans for the #BigGardenBirdwatch?'

'Nah, just the usual... hang out of sight whilst she's doing the count, then touch down once the hour's over. You?'

'Classic. Planning some fly-bys with a few of the boys, but we'll only land one at a time.'

'Niiice.'

My husband has changed his regular wfh days for 2026 and I no longer have office days on account of being completely freelance so neither of us have any idea what day it is anymore.

Yahoo have improved their desktop email which obviously means it's much worse.

If you're a small charity or community project looking to refresh your content for 2026 but aren't quite sure where to start, then I'd love to hear from you.

I like to think that I'm well organised but for the second time recently I can't find a document that I'm looking for that ought to be filed somewhere obvious but isn't.

Finally got round to deleting my Threads account on the basis that having not used it in a year I'm unlikely to go back.

Take note charity sector still on X.

If this week's news isn't a red line for you, what is?
I have not personally used X/Twitter for some time now. It was already an unpleasant place prior to its takeover by Elon Musk but since his acceptance of hate speech and anonymous online abusers, it has become utterly unusable.

I was half thinking of trying the new BBC Lynley this evening but the reviews aren't particularly encouraging. Has anyone seen it and enjoyed it?

I don't have words for how much I hate the 'this appears to be a long document, would you like an AI summary?' thing.

No I wouldn't. I want to read it. That's sort of the whole point of wanting to properly understand a thing for myself.

Rant over.

2026 is the year I turn fully freelance as a writer & comms consultant supporting not-for-profits.

I'm looking forward to the new chapter and I've refreshed my offer for the new year to reflect both the things that I want to do more of and the things that I'm being asked for.
