Despairing over how quickly our democracy is being dismantled, so for now doing what I can locally to help others. I’ll be working another shift with World Central Kitchen tomorrow to distribute hot meals to people who remain displaced/affected by the Eaton Fire.

For most of September through December, I fantasize about living somewhere with true seasons, changing leaves, chilly air, and peaceful snowfall. But then I do my Christmas errands in 72 degree weather and I remember why I’ll never leave California!

One of my closest friends died two years ago, at the unfairly young age of 52. Usually it makes me happy to find comments from her on old FB posts, but today I saw one where she joked that we need to make sure our daughters put us in an old folks’ home together, and I’m heartbroken all over again.
