Best Evidence’s fifth annual Year in Review continues with the true crime podcasts we loved in 2025.

It’s Big Brother season, so some players are eating slop, the show’s term for a bland but protein dense oatmeal (as you can see from slop’s recipe and ingredient list). Even though slop is punishment on the show, at least it’s nutritious and substantive; the slop that’s increasingly filling the web and our social feeds is not, alas. (Though I do love a shrimp Jesus.) Whereas the internet was once filled with keyword soup to please search engines, we now have articles being written by generative AI, which is glorified autocomplete that can’t actually retrieve information; meanwhile, Google’s AI displaying inaccurate information so now people stopped visiting websites that have actual information, which is a real shitstorm. Not here! reality blurred, as you probably know since you’re reading these words, is written by real, passionate human beings.
