I just randomly came across this on the Steam sale, and it feels like a hidden gem! Mixing Metal Slug with metroidvania it's a perfect match. A literal blast to fight your way through the environment with gorgeous pixel graphics. Perfect for the Steam deck.

Going into 2026, a reminder for everyone who's fallen off the creative wagon, game dev, writing, art, music, whatever, no matter how long:
Enjoying Paladin in @diablo.blizzard.com quite a lot, but it's face/body options are a step down from the Spiritborn in my opinion. This is why a proper character creator is a must, in my opinion, even in overhead ARPGs. (But at least there's no stupid genderlocking of classes like other games.)

Here's a novel thought: rather than arguing about whether "reviewers" or "metacritic" think a game is good, focus on whether YOU think a game is good by playing it yourself. You miss out on so many good experiences by listening to what other people think on something as entirely subjective as "fun".

So, I took a rather long-winded approach to mapping "Constance". a beautiful new #metroidvania by @constancegame.bsky.social (even after saying I wasn't going to do a map for it... ooops!) It's kept me out of trouble for a couple of days at least. About 25 hours of work so far. #cartography

So the demo for GRIME2 is fantastic, with a rather satisfying combat loop even early on. I've been avoiding all the blogs and spoilery stuff so I can discover (or miss, as is my wont) all the things as I go. Also mapped the demo because of course I did. @playgrime.bsky.social

Because other games didn't take my fancy as much as I expected, and I have finished with my Possessors content, I'm now sat twiddling my thumbs waiting for @constancegame.bsky.social next week. Guess I could clean up my SSD for some footage space 😅

Think I've done all I can withmy map for Possessor(s) by @possessors.bsky.social right now until we get some quality of life for tracking things — like area % completion and the like. Having a trophy for "collect all the 🦞" & not telling us how many there are or where they could be is just... nah!

Possessors was NOT an easy game to map. This still isn't finished, but apart from a couple of trophy-related collectathons, it's pretty usable. Just don't be asking me where all the Lobsters are because I haven't a clue HOW MANY there are, let alone where they're hiding... #Possessors #metroidvania

DLC for "The Last Faith" launching just in time for my birthday in 2026. Nice. Base game was just my type of thing and sat comfortably in my A-Tier. Hopefully it's a significant expansion.

THAT is how you respect your Kickstarter backers. Keys in your inbox a full 24 hours before game launch. Sure, can't play it until release, but at least I can play it at the same time as people who buy, not 4+ hours afterwards. Appreciate it, Mr Fungus. You won't be alone much longer.

Highly recommend checking this out. Absolutely crushes it with the pixel art, and the gameplay seems to be quashing all the complaints I heard about their previous MV title (which, for the record, I really liked).
