science communication for scientists - open memetics - ORI

Here is my "memetics 101" article. This summarizes my understanding of this field, why it's important, and who is actively doing work that I am paying attention to

someone around here said something like "I no longer feel dismay when arguing on the internet because I model the other people as a force of nature, like a storm. No use getting mad at the weather!" and I liked that a lot

You wake up one day & realize you are a source of evil. This is good news!

They don't yet.

Even across related literatures (holding language constant), there isn't much motivation to check for novelty systematically.
I attempted to do this a bit in my latest paper, though.

For now, we could just preprint and post requests to check our novelty on social media sites.

is this true? can anyone corroborate?

when a scientist discovers something new, how do they check that no one else has already discovered it and wrote it down with different language?

i wanted to give a word to this concept, something like "certified open marketing" or "certified psyop". It is "certified" NOT by a third party, but by the fact that there is a prediction of what it will do before it launches
November 11, 2025 at 1:57 PM
does this concept make sense to you guys? @cwonus.org @daytura.bsky.social @shibbi.bsky.social

we actually had a case like this, and I want to do more now:

"can we predict, in principle, the “emotional resonance vector” of a new idea before it spreads"

yes, absolutely! All you have to do is preregister with the open memetics institute. If your thing goes viral in the way you predict, then that's proof

the concepts page so far has been writing down the "stuff we all already know" but in doing so we're revealing what that is, and what fundamental things we maybe don't agree on. I'm intentionally going slow / only adding one at a time because I want as many voices to contribute!
November 8, 2025 at 10:02 PM
I really do think the MAIN bottleneck right now is coordination/creating a shared language. There are a lot of people that have testable theories, some that I think are already breakthroughs, but everyone's using their own homegrown language, so it's not clear they're talking about same things

if you're comfortable with github you can see the discussion on the first PR we merged here, as we were debating the purpose of this document / what we're driving towards

yeah this is solvable if you take reflexivity as a fundamental part of your axioms, not something you try to eliminate. From michael smith's "subjective science" (morphenius.substack.com/p/subjective...)

wait is there a workflow for cross posting from twitter -> bluesky or vice versa?? does anyone have a doc / tutorial for this, I want to try it

Looking forward to enabling this with semble.so !

yeah there's predicting, and then being in the right place at the right time to profit from that, and then there's actively shaping / shifting the tide towards more favorable conditions to you/your desired future

no i haven't been actively monitoring him! What's the highlight(s) ?
