This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

My coworker is an immigrant from Afghanistan. She said “I survived three wars. If you have lentils and water, we can get through this. I will make sure.”

My January reads.

Her Majesty’s Royal Coven and The Shadow Cabinet were probably my top 2 favorites for the month. I initially enjoyed A Study in Drowning but found the FMC to be tone deaf and unaware of her own privilege and prejudice.

Loved Starling House.

Men Who Hate Women was a hard read.

Reading is political.

Reading has always been political.

Your favorite characters wouldn’t just sit by and watch. They’d get up and burn some shit to the ground.

Usually teach Lord of the Flies at the end of the year but decided to move it up to February because, yeah, I dunno, felt like a good time to explore fascism and masculinity as brutality.

The past several days have proven without a shadow of a doubt that Project 2025 is real and underway.

And those who warned America about it were right.

I believe in human rights for all people. Everyone deserves to be their authentic self and live in safety with the ability to thrive.

Don’t go silent, the only way we can protect each other is by not backing down. And not giving them our power.

Check in with each other.

When people who demonstrably hate women claim they’re “protecting women” you can be sure their idea of protection does not align with women’s safety or freedom

Reading is inherently political.

It is easier to oppress the masses when they are functionally illiterate. (As 21% of Americans are, and 54% of Americans read below a 6th grade level.)
seeing the dumpster fire that was “keep politics out of booktok” taught me that reading isn’t enough. critical thinking needs to be taught, needs to be practiced. #booksky
