The Kirby Air Riders Amiibo might be the coolest amiibo I own. They are big, heavy, bold and are interesting functionally. You level up the rider as a companion during races and can change cart by littlerally moving the character to the other cart. Would love to see more ideas like this...

@charalanahzard.bsky.social recently raised a question, what defines an indie game? From my pov, it has to be money. We borrowed AAA from the finance world and it scales down. Define a modern line for AAA, AA and so on. 'Indie' going to anything above $5mill a year feels wrong imo.

#Google has become even more useless to me, failing to be second nature at spell check. I would prefer not to burn literal jet fuel by using #AI to get over my Dyslexia but here we are...
(Copying from the input is unformatted. Now I need to actively mess with the text, messed up many times)

Excited and happy to be apart of it! 😍

Found time to start working on my #GameEngine and added an Asset Browser and ability to add meta data to assets. ImGui makes this remarkably easy to prototype. Next to add proper selection/inspector editing.

And this is why Vibe coding will never take off. It's hard enough to use AI as a search engine, let alone a pair programmer:

A must watch for any GameDev.
Also it's nice to see Ahoy still making videos.

Hank Green posted an interesting video about a(nother) tangible difference between blsky, Twitter, and Threads.
The information about link downranking might be obvious to some but is super important for #gamedev (posting links to trailers or steam/itch/other stores)

Studios first game needs to be pulled because they can't find the code🔗. Please just use a private GitHub to backup your projects if you cannot think of anything better. You do not need to use a console - use GitHub desktop. Please at least backup your projects!

Indie studio pulls its first game from Steam after realizing it lost the source code: 'We had no established routine to back up our data'
A heartbreaking testament to the importance of backups.

At least a quarter of the posts in the game dev feed! 🎮
So you’ll be looking through Game Dev bsky and it’s posts like:

“Yeah, that’s what makes zucchini muffins so difficult. Then again. I’m not exactly a genius baker. Guess I should stick to game dev.”

LTT put out a video on wide screen gaming. Must watch if you're ever thinking about user interfaces or how your game is rendered or how you are giving players the information they require to play.
Certainly an argument for better UI control in games.

After a lot of setup I've added Text Rendering, I'll be I need to add Scale and Justification/Alignment but those can come later. For now it loads from file and takes text - the rest are the next features.

Today I added the ability to render only part of a given texture to my Engine. On my way to Sprites and Tilesets/maps.
One Feature at a time!
(Also does transparency but the sprite is off centre so was testing placement)

Had a conversation with Chris Maltby, the creator of #gbstudio. Spoke about how to keep the vision of the product focused and managing a public project. As Tools Engineer GBS is solving the problems tools were made for, user friendly, focused product. Love to see it. #gamedev #gameboy

Taken me all day and a bit of architectural design but I have two rectangles not touching using a Rigidbody. Making things from scratch (like an engine) is hard but rewarding. #SpiritCity has helped me in taking breaks (productivity tool). Full review pending. #gamedev

Struggling to focus on side projects. Developing a little 2D engine and resolved a ticket - add circle on circle collision. If you too have a project you want to work on - try picking up a small task! One ticket at a time! #gamedev

Advice for GameDev and especially taking on a large project. Organise all your tasks and bugs, prioritise what you need, should and want to do! I am developing a Game Engine, I could not take on everything without good organisation! This is Github Issues/Projects. One task at a time!

As both a software developer and a gamedev I feel very seen by this quote. Players don't play our code they play our games.

So my Control key keeps randomly firing. I've changed keyboards so it must be the laptop one. I've cleaned it with air and brushes. No luck.
Now I've disabled the keys with auto hotkey so the situation is under control.

Welcome to the bsky game dev orientation 🧵!

Let's get you started with the basics of bsky, finding other game devs, and posting about your games!

Btw, this is based on the amazing artist orientation thread from @purlane.ink; make sure to check it out if you’re also in the art side of game dev!
Welcome to the Bluesky artist orientation 🧵!

This will get you started on the basics of how this network works, how to connect with other artists, and how to get your art seen.

If you’re a furry, I also highly recommend checking out @buttplug.engineer's furry orientation thread below:
Welcome to qDot’s “So you’re a furry that just joined bsky” 🧵

A guide to other posts on the network and servers furries should know because I’m sick of repeating myself

First up, @kamu.bsky.social ’s Furry Roll-call thread. Comment to let others know you’re here.
