Rewatching the Given movie (last one) after the long day and I think I’m just upsetting myself watching it. I have complicated feelings about the ending, and how Uenoyama sort of stopped being the main focus. Oh well.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to be rich to feel cool. You don't need to worry about "things to make you more chic" lists because they're dumb, and boring. And overtly classist, and secretly racist—centering whiteness and Eurocentrism as the epitome of chic.

It's worth a reminder that when you contact your reps you emphasize that the orange's actions are against international and national. I'm tired of Dems tweeting about how angry they are. It's the same bs over and over again. Actions are what matter now.

Also, it's infuriating how many editions of the 4 Chinese Classics are abridged. Translators simply deciding to include only a third of such a story? Imagine someone deciding they only need to translate a third of Count of Monte Cristo "just because."

I'd like to support my local bookstores, but they don't have any edition of the Chinese Classics, not even to buy online. It sucks because that's often a place where they're lacking: foreign books that aren't just the usual "classics" from Europe, and a few from Latin America.
