What a difference under this government. My mother in law has been in A &E after a head injury. She was triaged, given a CT scan cleaned and glued and discharged in less than 2 hours. The improvement from when my mum waiting for about 10 hours on a trolley in pain before seeing someone is stark

Nigel Farage wants to unban Handguns, which were banned after the Dunblane School Shooting.

How do you feel about that, do you think we need School Shootings?

Do they need bringing back?

What I like about the English women's football team is the inclusivity, women who are neurodivise or have sight issues included in the mainstream team, not separated in a disability team and it being a none aggressive attitude from the fan base.

Well done England .

The starving going on in Gaza is wrong. It needs stopping now. Too much destruction has already happened and innocent people are and have suffered and died.

I wish I could do more than this post to stop it but could not sit in silence when people are facing hunger and this didn't have to happen.

I hope people notice how many Labour have put protection of people in front of political alliances with the welfare Bill changes.

This is the difference between the parties. The Libdems were happy to join the Tories & make horrific cuts for their political gains during the Clegg/Cameron coalition.

I know some won't agree but I think it shows strength and not weakness for the Labour govt to listen to people and their MPs and make changes.

Thank you to @melanieonnmp.bsky.social for standing up for your constituents on the proposed changes to welfare.

The days of water bosses taking bonuses while dumping sewage are over. Labour has banned bonuses for several water company bosses - including at Anglian Water.

After years of pollution and no accountability, we're putting an end to rewards for failure.

Just watched the Home Counties private schoolboy Nigel Farage telling northern voters how he understands steelworkers because he used to work in the “metals business” himself. He was, ahem, a commodities trader at the London Metal Exchange in the City.

With the leadership of Starmer over the past couple of weeks I am again proud to be British . The last time I felt like that was during the 2012 London Olympics.

Incredibly sad news that the US has pulled out of the Paris climate agreement.😪

The good news is our country is going in the opposite direction and we are building renewable, clean energy, which in the longer term will enable us to be energy independent and not reliant on other countries 😀

It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...

I thought people voted for Brexit for our countries sovereignty?

It seems as now Musk and the US are inferring and trying to control our country. They need to butt out. This country did not vote for deregulation and private healthcare. We voted to protect our NHS.

With Heidi Alexander replacing Louise Haigh as transport secretary, the cabinet is now 100% state school educated for the first time in history.

(Sir Keir Starmer's school was a selective state school when he joined, then became private two years into his time there.)

"Some 56% of farmland bought in 2023 was sold to landowners who were not working farmers.

The revenue per acre is too low to warrant the purchase, unless you are extremely wealthy and are avoiding inheritance tax."
Whose land? Tax avoidance and the broken economics of British farming
Noise in the billionaire press about inheritance tax changes hides a basic fact: the non-farming rich own too much land

Important context here:

● over half of farms are less than 49 acres (20 hectares)

● "a big farm" is 217 acres.

Now let's see who's angry:

● Clarkson farm is 1,000 acres
● Lloyd Webber farms 4,000 acres
● Viscount Rothermere (Mail owner) 4,700 acres
● Dyson owns 36,000 acres
A message from a REAL farmer who hasn’t been brainwashed by the Tories, wealthy landowners and the right wing media👇🏽

To be clear:

It's £1m untaxed, plus £325k of standard tax free inheritance.

You can double that if the farmer is married.

So farmers can hand down £2.65m tax free, and their kids pay 20% on everything else.

Tax on your job is 40% over £50k

"Land owner" is not a job

🧵
This will affect fewer than 500 farms, and the IFS says farms are "still more generously treated than they used to be in decades past"

It's just closing a loophole that's been used to avoid inheritance tax, and which pushes up farm rents and makes it harder for 76% if farmers to make a profit.
