Okay, Bluesky #writers, I just took a deep breath, and here goes. A year ago, I started a podcast to create accountability for myself and anyone who wants to join me. It took a minute to feel ready to share. (It’s still a work in progress.) Take a look! www.youtube.com/@WriteWriter...

You have three weeks to sign the Forever Canadian petition which is a message to Danielle Smith that Albertans don't want to separate. Volunteers are set up in many communities across the province. Use your voice (or in this case, pen) if you believe in unity! #Alberta

True!
Why read books? Because books are still the most powerful, reliable, transportive & magical storytelling technology we've invented - and all they need to work is YOUR OWN IMAGINATION! #booksky

This story is horrific and terrifying. Then, near the end, this:

"The reality became clear: Ice detention isn’t just a bureaucratic nightmare. It’s a business. These facilities are privately owned and run for profit."

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped
I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

@djpressman.bsky.social, Soha Hammam, and I draw on our research through the Crowd Counting Consortium to show that there is far more protest happening in the US than is commonly understood, and that the shift to economic noncooperation shows powerful potential for future collective action.
Resistance is alive and well in the United States
Protests of Trump may not look like the mass marches in 2017, but they're far more numerous and frequent — and also becoming more strategic.

If you’re feeling helpless in the midst of upheaval, stay strong and remember these words of the Dali Lama: “If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

You can’t change the state of the world on your own, but you can change the state of you. Take time to breathe. Go for a walk. Journal. Be informed. Ask questions. To avoid being programmed by others, draw your own conclusions instead of following the masses.

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

You know, free speech is great and all, but I think we ought to focus on keeping our minds free. That’s where we’re losing big time. And that’s where our power resides. #hope #freedom #powerofthemind

Ontario, don't be stupid. Get out and vote today! Last time Ford got a majority based on votes from only 18% of the electorate. If you give a damn about your healthcare, you don't want to miss this one. You don't need to be registered or nothin', just show up with your ID. Easy peasy

I accidentally gave away one of my favorite books, "Kite Runner" by Kahled Hosseini" when I was sorting through my bookshelves. I happened to see a copy in a used book store and picked it up. Today, a couple of years later, I pulled it off my shelf and realized it's a signed copy!

What a great idea. Cheers!
When having a meal in Japan, it is impolite to refill your own glass. So if you want more to drink, you refill someone else's glass as a cue for someone else to fill yours.

The holidays can be rough, so if someone fills your glass with kindness, be sure that theirs isn't empty too.

Marty Chan's writing prompts trigger storyworms. One glance, and my imagination starts spinning.
It's Tuesday! Time for another writing prompt to help kids write. Teachers and parents, try this one out on your kids:

"I was bored in the art gallery until the portrait of the old woman winked at me."

Here's one more card from the deck of creativity.
"We’re continuously surrounded by messages that the only useful information is information that can be quantified with facts and figures. The tarot goes against this, for it urges us to look within our psyches, to trust that there’s more to life than what can be seen and measured."
5 Myths About Tarot That Storytellers Should Know | Jane Friedman
Like love and creativity, the best things in life are intangible. It’s the same with intuition, which the tarot helps us access and develop.

Yes! Meeting one bite-sized goal in writing or life feels good. Watch it boost your energy for the next bite-sized goal
If you're struggling with creative work lately, setting bite-sized goals can help.

"Work on WIP" might feel overwhelming.

But "Revise dialogue in chapter 2" or "Add weather details to opening scene?" We can handle that.

I just listened to the first couple of episodes and the Ladies of Lore podcast is fascinating. Several more to go before I reach this one about Cinderella, but I’m a little OCD that way.
I’m conscious of not making this a space where I spam my podcast constantly, so I’m not going to.

New episodes drop Tuesdays, I’ll do one post a week promoting the show and that is it 🧡

So, here’s today’s episode about the original tale of Sleeping Beauty!

Just listened to the first two episodes of the @ladiesoflore.bsky.social podcast about women in mythology. Awesome! Where did they come from? What do they mean? How have they impacted us? Well done, India. I’ll be back for more. 👏

I just learned about about the Ladies of Lore podcast here on Bluesky and can’t wait to dive in. Women in mythology and folklore. Fascinating!
It feels so good to have the chance to build a little community here 🥹

Today, I’m recording the next episode of the podcast which is a deep dive into the absolutely wild original story of Sleeping Beauty. Super excited to share this one and to kick off a little mini series on the women of Disney🩷
