If you want to stay on other social media, do so. Everyone's experience is different and I'm not going to judge you based on where you spend your time.
If you can leave facebook, instagram, and threads that's great, but a lot of non-profits and indie creators have no choice but to stay for promotion and fundraising. Just try to remember that when making grand declarations of disgust and condemnation aimed at everyone who keeps using meta. 🧵

This is not a terrorist attack, says the note found after the terrorist attack.
“This was not a terrorist attack,” the notes said. “It was a wake-up call. Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence. What better way to get my point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives?” www.nytimes.com/2025/01/03/u...

Folks holding up the UHC CEO killer as some sort of hero should realize, that company had the new CEO in place before the blood was dry on the sidewalk. This isn't the way to affect change.

The regime in Syria has fallen. Hopefully the replacement will bring an improvement in stability and quality of life for the Syrian people and its regional neighbors, but we'll have to see how that unfolds in the days and weeks to come.

This gives off a Peter Parker vibe. We don't know the guy's motive, but he committed evil and his next victim if there is one might be someone you do care about.

Best piece of advice someone gave me that I never followed and always regretted:

Every time you learn something coding at work, write a tiny, low-effort blog post about it. You can always edit or beef up later, but it's the fastest way to remember what you've learned.

Threads is an echo chamber on the left, Twitter on the Right, I hope this stays a sane normal place where some disagreement can be politely explored. Too much to ask??

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

Bookmarking solved the problem of using "like" to mark a post for later review.
The feature set of #bsky is really good, but one thing I really do miss is the ability to bookmark something. Being more important now when so many are joining and sharing great ideas and content. /cc @bsky.app

I'm new here. Of the X/Twitter alternatives, it seems like this one's actually got legs....err, wings. I'm open to any topic, but authors of rude posts (e.g., mocking the intelligence of those who don't agree with you, or even us) wind up on my mute list quickly.
