A view from the Harmony Ridge run.
We are starting the new year in a new building at UBC. I just googled coffee places on Google Maps. Somehow we have geomtrically optimized for being as far away as possible from all coffee places on campus. I hope it doesn't rain this semester in Vancouver.

Example:

“They tried to Bari the segment, but it got Streisanded and everyone watched it twice.”

This is very good.
Today on Volts: I've got a nerdy one for you! I talk with political scientist @samuel-bagg.bsky.social about the epistemic crisis & its roots in social identity. He explains why factchecking & media literacy classes will never solve misinformation -- why something deeper & stronger is required.
The cure for misinformation is not more information or smarter news consumers
Political scientist Samuel Bagg explains why social identity is at the root of the misinformation crisis -- which calls for something deeper than factchecking.

@avigoldberg.bsky.social I missed the Skinner trade (though I saw someone speculating it was coming a week or two ago). Any thoughts on it?

New @csa-scs.bsky.social shows that Canadian undergraduate enrollment has declined over the last decade but has stabilized. This was especially notable in Ontario. MA and PhD are enrollments are stable.
