Reading a post from Chuck Tingle on my skyline, smiling, scrolling on, and then having my defenses down for all the other posts that are about the other, much more disappointing Chuck that all of bsky is talking about today.

Set up the playpen at my parents’ house in preparation for their daycare duties starting soon. Cat took about 10 minutes to claim it as her own, of course. Had to be bribed into leaving with a shoulder ride to the otherwise inaccessible alcove above the bookshelves so the playpen had room for a baby

Mad about the political stuff everybody else is mad about, but also mad that an hour and a half on “saute - low” in the instant pot was somehow not long enough to soften the potatoes and carrots in my beef stew, so it’s almost 9pm and dinner is still not ready 😤

I called. I hate calling but I called.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I love this.
In my small family, everybody who’s not in my parents’ household clears what they want to make with the my mom, and then she oversees the balance of the dishes as the cooking is split between her, my dad, and any siblings at home that year.
I usually make a pie or two 😋
sharing what my family does because it is kind of crazy:

1. for each big holiday you have a semi-permanent dish. you bring that every year

2. if you want to try something new it must be in addition to your usual

3. if you are a new adult, you make deviled eggs until the next person comes of age
are potluck thanksgivings not the norm?

my family is so big that if one person tried to host our family dinner it would be like $1,000 dollars

Ah crap, I just looked at my profile and realized I look like one of those fake accounts that just re-posts stuff to look legit. I promise I’m not, I just don’t have much to say that others aren’t saying better.
Except saccharine stuff about my kid, but I don’t want to be A Social Media Mom either.

you can win without party leadership endorsing you

you can win unapologetically standing with every persecuted minority pundits say are too politically toxic to touch

we could do everything about this process differently if we wanted to
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

During the era when Arabs were in the Iberian Peninsula, many words and cultural elements were introduced into the Spanish language: “calabaza” is one of those examples, from Arabic قَرْعَة يَابِسَة‎ (qarʕa yābisa) “dry gourd”, from Persian خربزه‎ (xarboza, xarboze) “melon”.

1) I desperately need to wash my front windows
2) T/N/R is going to be more expensive than I thought, because that really looks like three kittens and not the two I’d seen with their mom before.

Because of the aunt/uncle/cousin discourse, I started thinking… None of my or my husband’s siblings have kids, and neither did my parents’ siblings; my baby is thoroughly bereft of cousins. But between bio aunts/uncles and godparents, he’ll have six cats from four households in that role instead 😺
