For the first new artist of 2026 we bring you the work of New York master of queerotica Fyodor Pavlov. Drawing skilfully on the traditions of earlier erotic illustration, his experimental, playful, transgressive art is a joy to behold – see it now at honesterotica.com/illustrator/....

I didn’t know that Crafts Magazine had ceased paper publication and gone online. Given that the last time I bought a copy over twenty years ago it cost twelvety two quid I’m not really surprised though.

Figurative artists quote & share self-portraits.
Let‘s see what you look like. I’ll start with my grizzled old face.

At least with the Kennedy Center, artists did leave.
Too many are still on X.

I'm going to start 2026 out looking back at my fave art pieces I got done in 2025. I always feel like I didn't get much done, and that is always untrue.

First, a carved wood artist book reflecting on an impending loss of eyesight and how eyes work.

what I want trans kids, queer kids, and gender nonconforming kids to know:

you are loved

you are so much more powerful than the ghouls using your healthcare as a political pawn, and you WILL outlive them (they know this, and it is why they're attacking you)

Art vs Artist 2025
I haven’t been very productive this year as regards drawing & haven’t done any painting at all
However I have been on a printmaking course (more to follow), built a printing press, baked loads of bread & written stories

By late 2026 I will publish my new "Acid Renaissance" book of art, but in the meantime my first two art books are available from my online shop via the link below (and also from Bookbuster and Printed Matters bookshops, if you happen to be in Hastings):

Back to peddling my weird suggestions, in case this festive timeless void hasn't been strange enough for you. A gift of sorts - a folklore/folk horror starter pack. Go find yourself some winter ghost stories, standing stones, possibly even a wassail.
Anyone craving more folklore and folk horror in their bluesky lives might like the starter pack I made. I'm always adding to it, especially trying to include artists, musicians, performers, morris dancers, mummers, etc. Let me know if I'm missing anyone :) go.bsky.app/LXSZqSM

As the year draws to a close, I’m signing off 2025 with a magical find!

An ancient amber bear. Carved some 10,000 years ago, it washed up on a beach at Fanø, Denmark, from a submerged Mesolithic settlement in the North Sea.

✨ Happy New Year all! ✨

Had a visit from the bone fairy last night.
Unlike their little sister, who pays for discarded teeth, the bone fairy just takes.
Two toes and a little finger gone.
My uncle Jack lost his left kneecap back in ‘52 and my grandfather woke missing his seventh thoracic vertebra. He never walked again.
