I'm on Letterboxd now! Goal is to watch at least one film per week this year to expand my horizons. You can hear all my rambling thoughts about why storytelling matters in my review of Wake Up Dead Man!

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

With the gays it's always "Bulking Season" or "Cutting Season." Yeah you should be cutting -- some checks! You're behind on rent diva!!!

Happy New Year's Eve! Don't forget: if you're a ravenous gal craving some hot dogs (ahem @ptklein.com ) or Swine Ham Hampagne (the C is silent because it's a ham-based wine made at a vineyard on a swamp!), then shop at Hammily Waggily, which has everything you need to satiate your tubby old pal!

I'm taking my partner's fam to New York for the holidays to do some ice skating. It's my first time, so I welcome any recommendations for fun things to do in NYC/Manhattan for the holidays, especially something a three year old might enjoy!

This, a thousand times over. And the same thing is true of education. It’s in the *process* - of reading a whole argument, story, or study, of wrestling w/ the unfamiliar, of exploring a subject & writing the paper yourself, of reviewing for the exam w/ your own brain - where actual learning happens
a big part of the issue surrounding the use of chatgpt/LLMs in academic research comes down to process vs. product. a lot of us know that the process of doing research matters because that's where intellectual work is done; but some "academics" and lots of techies only care about a fast product

Statler: Did you hear? Hades II won Best Action Game this year.

Waldorf: Oh right! You know, that game reminds me of Kermit and Piggy.

Statler: Really?

Waldorf: Every time I see them I think "Hey deez two are getting on my last nerve!"
